Random Ski Hacks
Buy equipment at a ski swap, especially for kids. Blue’s got a sale in October and you can find great deals on new and used, but good-condition skis, boots, and poles.
Arrive right before mountain opens for easier parking, and to get in a few runs before the crowds arrive.
Eat a big breakfast and bring snacks, then do lunch after 2:00 when it's not so crowded.
Play hooky and come up during the week, when Blue Mountain is less crowded (Don't tell your boss I recommended this).
Rent a big house at a destination ski resort and divide costs and nightly dinner duties among several families/friends - Vail and Whistler are my favorites.
Consider buying a season's pass, which means you can come whenever the mood strikes, stay for 3 runs or 30, save 10% on food and the ski shop, enjoy free snow tubing, and get a free day lift ticket for a friend.
Wear heated socks and gloves if your feet or hands get super cold. Kind of pricey, but well worth it!
Off the Mountain
Squats and bike riding are both great exercises that build up your ski legs.
Stretch and drink lots of water to minimize muscle soreness after a hard day on the hill.
Relax apres-ski at Blue’s Slopeside bar, or somewhere closer to home.
Work at Blue! We're always looking for people for the ski shop, restaurants, and guest services. Tell them I sent you and I'll get a little referral bonus! Apply here.
